KAMLOOPS - RCMP believe alcohol was a factor after a 22-year-old man allegedly crashed into two parked vehicles, rolled his truck, reported it stolen, then resisted arrest all around 2 a.m. this morning.
Kamloops RCMP is reporting the man took off from a residence on the 900 block of Gleneagles Drive where he had been partying with friends when he had got into a physical fight with an ex-girlfriend.
He allegedly sped off in his white 2011 Dodge pickup truck, but didn't get too far. The truck crashed into two parked vehicles and rolled onto its roof about a block and a half away.
Police are saying the driver then reported the vehicle stolen, meanwhile he had gone back to the party and told his friends about the crash.
Investigators on scene collected witness statements and went to arrest the driver. He wouldn't go quietly though and put up a fight with police. He was pepper sprayed before taking off on foot. Police tracked him down with the help of another patrol and a police service dog a short distance away.
The man faces charges of assault, public mischief, obstructing a police officer and hit and run and is due in court for his first appearance in Kamloops on Dec. 12.
