Kamloops RCMP are seeking a witness to an assault in a grocery store parking lot last week.

Around 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, officers were called to a report of an assault in the Save-On-Foods parking lot at 1800 Tranquille Rd. in Kamloops, according to an RCMP media release issued today, May 5.

The victim told police a man associated with a white Toyota SUV grabbed him by the throat and punched him in the head before driving away.

The victim suspected the incident to be a case of mistaken identity.

A woman in a red car checked on the victim afterwards.

Police are asking for that woman or anyone else who might have seen the assault to contact police at 250-828-3000, referencing file number 2021-13895.
