KELOWNA - A Lake Country man was arrested for impaired driving after he rolled his Volkswagon Golf on Glenmore Road Tuesday morning.

The 22-year-old was apparently driving in the 9000 block of Glenmore Road in Lake Country at around 4:30 a.m. Oct. 15 when the crash happened. A witness told police the grey car appeared to be out of control before it literally flew into the air and onto its roof, according to an RCMP media release.

"Police detected an odour of liquor on the driver's breath and initiated an impaired driving investigation," RCMP Const. Jesse O'Donaghey said. "The driver blew a fail during a test using a roadside screening device but required medical attention and was taken to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment."

The driver was released from hospital and taken by police to the Kelowna RCMP detachment where he provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit. He faces potential impaired driving charges and also a charge of driving while over 0.8. He was released from police custody to appear in court at a later date.
