KAMLOOPS - This pitbull terrier came to the Kamloops SPCA a stray from the local animal control.
His name is Benson. The shelter says he can be a bit timid initially and needs time to adjust to new people and places. Once he gets past this, he is energetic, playful and excitable.
Benson needs an experienced guardian who can teach him how to be a good boy.
Good obedience training and a confident guardian is important as Benson is a very large and strong dog who pulls on leash. Breed experience would be beneficial to adopters.
That being said he is a friendly dog who seems to learn quickly and is eager to please.
He loves to play fetch, which is a great way to burn off some energy, so a big fenced yard would do him well.
Benson likes being with people and may get anxious when left alone. He will need to get used to spending time alone slowly, a few minutes at a time in his new home.
He would be a good match for an active, dog-savvy person who can keep him busy. He will need slow, proper introductions to other animals and will likely do fine with a canine friend to play with.
