Logging truck involved in hit-and-run near UBCO

A woman in her 80's was behind the wheel of a 4-door sedan struck by a logging truck on Highway 97 and University Way in a hit-and-run Thursday, May 1, 2014.

KELOWNA – RCMP are on the hunt for the logging truck involved in a hit-and-run at Highway 97 and University Way.

The semi struck the rear end of a Mazda 4-door sedan in the northbound lane during the lunch hour Thursday.

No one was seriously hurt although the driver of the car, a woman in her 80's, was pushed approximately 100 metres.

Police believe the driver of the semi knows the crash happened because skid marks on the road indicate an attempt to brake. There is no description of the suspect vehicle and anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact RCMP at 250-762-3300.

Traffic was down to one lane northbound for about half an hour.
