Local seniors symposium delivers information on housing and home health care

KAMLOOPS – June is Seniors’ Month, and there are many events happening around Kamloops to celebrate seniors.

Oncore Central Services, in partnership with the City of Kamloops, is celebrating with the 2nd Annual Seniors Symposium, taking place on Friday, June 12. This event is for seniors, or those looking after seniors. The all-day event will take place at the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre at 1250 Rogers Way.

The Symposium will share information that is important for healthy aging. Workshops include such topics as: ‘Seniors Housing Demystified’; ‘Access and Options in Home Health Care’ from Interior Health; a session on Alzheimer’s; information about Internet and smartphone safety provided by TELUS; ‘Five Easy Tips for Seniors Safety’ with TRU; and a Health and Wellness session by the City of Kamloops.

Register by phoning 250-828-3500 and quote program #241182. The cost is $10/seniors and $15/support staff for the full day of workshops and also includes coffee and tea, snacks, and lunch.
