A little boy in Revelstoke got a very special surprise while out driving his electric toy Jeep earlier this week.

Mom Stefani Knapp was taking her young son Taven for an evening outing on Tuesday, April 19.

What happened next drew a crowd of smiling neighbours.

“All I saw was lights in my peripheral vision and I panicked a bit,” Knapp said. “One officer pulled in front of us while a second parked across the street. They approached Taven with stickers and talked to him about his Jeep. He was so excited.”

Her son was overcome with curiosity and asked the officers if he could drive the cruiser.

“The officer let him go in and press all of the buttons, she was amazing,” Knapp said. “He put the sirens on, it was so loud it brought all the neighbours out. It was so sweet.”

Since then, Knapp said she has received text messages from others in the community who feel uplifted by the story.

“I wasn’t going to post it at first, but my sister said I have to, people need to hear this heart warming story," she said.

Knapp said Taven has decided he is going to be a police officer when he grows up.

She is grateful to the RCMP officers who went above and beyond and truly brought joy to her son, herself and her neighbourhood.

"Taven charmed his way out of a speeding ticket," she said.
