Lake Country Mounties gearing up to Cram the Cruiser

LAKE COUNTRY - The Lake Country RCMP are currently planning the 2nd Annual Cram the Cruiser fund raising event which is set to take place on Saturday December 7th, 2013, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., in the parking lot of the Lake Country Cooper’s Foods located at 9522 Main Street.
Once again, regular and auxiliary members of the RCMP, along with RCMP volunteers will be on location with marked police vehicles inviting the public to Cram the Cruiser with non-perishable food donations. Cash donations will also be accepted and all donations will solely benefit the Lake Country Food Bank. Everyone who contributes with a donation of any size will be given the opportunity to enter their name into a draw for prizes from both Lake Country and Kelowna businesses.

"Last year we had to empty our cruisers multiple times in order to keep up with the donations," says Cst. Jesse O'Donaghey, "this year we hope to surpass our totals from last year's event in which we managed to raise 1260 lbs of donated items, mainly non-perishable food, and nearly $2,000 in cash and cheques for the Lake Country Food Bank."

"The holiday season is well known to be a hard time of year on families in need, and certainly harder on the local food banks that support those families. The Lake Country Food Bank alone provides assistance to 303 clients which includes over 140 families," said Cst. Jesse O'Donaghey. "Last year was a wonderful opportunity for the members and volunteers of the RCMP to interact with members of the general public in a positive way, while doing something great for those in need in the District of Lake Country."

If you would like more information or you would like to donate before the event please contact Cst. Jesse O'Donaghey of the Lake Country RCMP Detachment at (250)766-2288.
