Animal cruelty charges stack up against a B.C. man accused of kitten torture

VANCOUVER - A Vancouver man charged last year over allegations he used a cellphone to videotape himself torturing a kitten now faces more charges.

Jordan Lucas has been charged with two more counts of animal cruelty after another 36 videos of five cats and a mouse being tortured and killed were uncovered.

The tapes were turned over to the British Columbia SPCA by a member of the public who stumbled onto them.

SPCA general manager Lorie Chortyk says the case is extremely disturbing, involving sickening torture and abuse.

Lucas was originally charged when a woman who had purchased a cellular phone found a 50-minute video tape showing only a man's hands abusing a kitten.

Lucas will appear in court on Feb. 4 to face the additional charges.
