KELOWNA – When a Kelowna restaurant on Kirschner Road was broken into Feb. 11 it wasn’t the first time that week.

Staff at MTL montREALfood diner arrived to work the morning of Feb. 11 to find the door had been damaged and an undisclosed amount of cash was missing, according to Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

He says police found damage throughout the inside of the business and say the suspect or suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Now O’Donaghey, as well as an employee who does not want his name used, confirm another break in occurred just a few days prior.

“RCMP are investigating whether or not the break and enter, allegedly committed during the late night hours of Feb. 10 and early morning hours of Feb. 11, is related to a second attempted break and enter incident at the same location reported to police on Feb. 7,” O’Donaghey says in an email response to a request for comment.

The employee says police have security camera footage of at least one of the burglaries and has heard rumours that other businesses in the area have also been broken into recently. RCMP would not confirm that.

They are asking anyone with information to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or text a tip to CRIMES (274637) with keyword ktown.
