Kelowna's delicious new vegetarian restaurant

Smoked Carrot on Toast
Smoked Carrot on Toast

Not a vegetarian? Prepare to become a convert after visiting Kelowna’s hottest new eatery Frankie We Salute You! Located in the quickly expanding Landmark District, the new District Market building houses this cool desperately needed addition to the Kelowna food scene.

Owners Chef Brian Skinner and Christina Skinner are the former owners of The Acorn in Vancouver, THE veggie go-to restaurant in town. They know their plant based foods and here have created a menu stocked with a lineup of creative, delicious dishes — all sans meat and fish.

For example, instead of the traditional smoked salmon (lox), Frankie-style uses smoked carrots on toast with cream cheese dill and capers. IT IS TO DIE FOR. The chickpea fries are what first won me over at Acorn, here they are served with wasabi pea mayo AND they note that they use Saskatchewan chick peas (more points for sourcing local!).

The Charred Broccoli Caesar Salad has so many layers of flavour. Looking forward to trying the Fried Egg Tacos on the brunch menu next time and the Frankie Burger with housemade mushroom patty on the dinner menu.

They also thought ahead and have a takeaway fridge packed with meals to go that are made fresh daily to take to the office (very smart as the Landmark buildings are loaded with working humans).

Now open every day for brunch, lunch or dinner (they also have an awesome local wine list with some hard to find beauties and craft beers). And there are vegan and gluten free choices. All hail Frankie!
