A Kelowna woman couldn't believe it when she found out she won more than $600,000 playing the lottery.
Brenda Parent was enjoying a moment after work when she found out she won $608,849 playing the Mega Jackpots Fortune Coin on Feb. 13, according to a British Columbia Lottery Corporation press.
“It’s surreal. I’m dumbfounded,” she said.
Parent genuinely didn’t believe she had won.
“I was at home relaxing when I found out I won and had to phone BCLC,” Parent said in the release. “When I found out it was real, I still couldn’t believe it and felt like I wouldn’t until I went to Kamloops and talked to them in person.”
The BCLC website has a warning when it comes to games like the Mega Jackpots Fortune Coin.
“These games are high-risk. Games that involve quick and repeated betting can quickly lead to problems. Consider taking breaks and bet within your limits,” BCLC said on its site.
Parent said she has a vacation to Africa coming up so she’s going to live it up a bit more and get herself a new car.
“I always said I would buy a Hummer if I won the lottery so I’m going to do that,” she said.
