Kelowna taxi driver assaulted and robbed
A Kelowna taxi driver was assaulted and robbed when he showed up for passengers this morning.
The cabbie drove to the Raymer Road and Riley Court area early this morning, Jan. 17, where a man was waiting for the cab, according to a news release issued by Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Ryan Watters.
Once inside, the man hit the driver with a weapon and the taxi drove into a fence. The RCMP release didn't say what kind of weapon was used.
The man then robbed the driver and ran away, the release said.
The driver was taken to hospital, but RCMP didn't say how severe his injuries were.
Officers and police dogs searched the area and a suspect was arrested.
RCMP don't say if any charges are being considered.
