SPOKANE, WA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Spokane Chiefs 3-2 on Friday night for the team’s tenth straight win to start the WHL season.

Rookie goalie Jake Morrissey was named the game’s first star, stopping 26 shots, including nine in the third period, when the Rockets were outshot 9-1. Morrissey held the fort and didn't allow the tying goal, in earning his first WHL win.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period, when Austin Glover had the Rockets goal, his fifth of the season.

Kelowna scored twice early in the second period to take a 3-1 lead. Riley Stadel scored his sixth goal of the season, the most of any WHL blueliner, on an early power play, before Madison Bowey added his fourth of the year just 59 seconds later.

Spokane cut the lead to 3-2 midway through the second, but couldn't get another puck past Morrissey, starting his second game for the Rockets.

Kelowna now moves onto a Saturday night game in Tri-City where it will look to extend a franchise-record 10 game winning streak to start the season.

The Rockets return to Prospera Place next week, playing Wednesday (Hat Trick Wednesday) against Tri-City and Saturday vs. Brandon.
