KELOWNA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Everett Silvertips 3-1 on Friday night at Prospera Place as the Rockets held its first ever Teddy Bear Toss, with thousands of bears being donated to Kelowna General Hospital.

Ryan Olsen scored twice for the Rockets while Damon Severson had the game winner as the Rockets won its 14th game in its past 15 contests to improve to 21-3-0-2 on the season.

After a scoreless first period, the Silvertips opened the scoring early in the second period. Down 1-0 Kelowna killed off a lengthy 5-on-3 power play and it seemed to spark the team as soon after Olsen scored his first goal of the game, bringing bears flying onto the ice.

Severson's winner came on the power play early in the third period and Olsen put home the insurance marker in the 3-1 win.

Jordon Cooke was stellar in the Rockets net again, stopping 26 of 27 shots to record the win.

The Teddy Bears will be donated to KGH and used in the emergency, children's and other wards at the hospital.

The Rockets are back in action on Saturday night in the team's final home game before Christmas, hosting the Kootenay Ice.
