KELOWNA - Police in Kelowna are investigating after a woman found a bullet hole in the side of her vehicle last week.
In a news release, police say they received a report of "a set of suspicious circumstances" surrounding what's believed to be a negligent act, leading to the vehicle damage on July 12 at roughly 4:40 p.m.
Police have since learned an incident occurred approximately four hours earlier, while the woman's car was travelling northbound along Benvoulin Road near Beetlestone Drive.
The woman heard a loud bang on the passenger side of her blue 2013 Nissan Sentra, police say. Initially, she thought someone had thrown a rock at her car and was shocked to arrive home and discover what appeared to be the remnants of a bullet lodged in the passenger side door of the vehicle.
At this point, it's not clear where the bullet came from and no one has come forward to speak with police, however, Kelowna's integrated forensic identification services has become involved in the case.
“Forensic investigators have seized the bullet since recovered from the woman’s vehicle for examination as they look for clues to hopefully help them identify the person who may be behind this reckless incident,” states Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey in the release.
