KELOWNA - A man and two women who got into an argument in East Kelowna that involved a gun earlier this week have eluded police.

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. on Monday, July 29 when numerous calls were made to police about a disturbance involving a man and two women near McCulloch and East Kelowna roads.

The man pulled out a gun and “handled it in a threatening manner towards one of the women,” RCMP said in a news release. The woman walked away from the other two.

Police arrived in force, setting up checkpoints, searching businesses and motor vehicles and the surrounding orchard lands, using a police dog, but came up empty. They did detain a couple of people briefly but let them go.

“We need more independent witnesses to come forward with their information, as we continue our efforts to identify all of the individuals involved and determine exactly what transpired,” Kelowna RCMP media liaison Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in the release. “We believe that the incident was isolated and that all the parties involved were known to each other.”

The man was described to police as Caucasian, about 25 years old, about 5'8" in tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a dark tank top-style undershirt and dark shorts.

One of the women was wearing a pink shirt with her blond hair in a ponytail.
