Kelowna motorcycle crash sends one to hospital

KELOWNA - A man is in hospital with serious injuries following a crash between a motorcycle and a crossover SUV yesterday morning.

Around 9:15 a.m., April 5, a 2016 Nissan Rogue turning left from Daryl Road onto Weston Road collided with a Honda CR12 motorcycle.

The 66-year-old driver of the Nissan was shaken but uninjured while the 26-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The motorcyclist may not have been properly licensed nor insured at the time, Const. Jesse O’Donaghey of Kelowna RCMP says in a media release. O’Donaghey says an initial investigation shows the Nissan was travelling at a slow speed when it was struck by the motorcycle.

He notes the investigation is ongoing and charges could be laid.

Anyone who witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken with RCMP are asked to call the Kelowna detachment at 250-762-3300 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
