KELOWNA — A Kelowna man who tried to recover his stolen vehicle has sustained injuries after being forced to jump from it as the suspect drove away.

Kelowna police received the report yesterday, April 6, at 11:03 a.m., a RCMP media release says. The incident took place near the intersection of Glenmore Road and John Hindle Drive.

Police were told that an adult male had been ejected from the box of a pickup truck last seen headed northbound towards Lake Country.

The injured man had located his stolen grey 2005 Chevrolet Silverado outside an apartment complex in the 1400-block of Glenmore Road North. Police say he climbed into the box of his truck after the suspects, an unknown male and female, refused to turn over his vehicle that had been stolen on April 4.

“Those suspects allegedly fled the area with the registered owner exposed in the truck box,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release. “The victim sustained injuries when he jumped from his moving truck as it slowed in the intersection.”

Numerous front line officers of both the Kelowna RCMP and Lake Country RCMP scoured the area for the stolen pickup truck, but nothing turned up.
