Kelowna resident Bryon Treasure discovered he was $500,000 richer while on a road trip to Vancouver.

Treasure was at a friend’s house when he learned he had won $500,000, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release.

“Holy,” he said in the release. “I told my girlfriend and she didn’t believe me.”

Treasure won the Extra prize from the Sept. 16 Lotto Max draw with a ticket he purchased at the Canco on Highway 33 East in Kelowna.

He plans to splurge on an extra nice hotel room during his next trip to Vancouver and looks forward to purchasing a home in the near future.

“I was thinking about my kids’ future when I bought the ticket and the ability to purchase a home,” he recalled. “I was very happy.”
