KELOWNA — Conservatives will choose who will lead the federal riding of Kelowna-Lake Country tonight.

Voting will take place today, April 6, at the Ramada Hotel to elect a candidate to represent the Conservative Party of Canada.

Tracy Gray and Renee Wasylyk are vying for the job. Whoever wins has a chance to become a Member of Parliament.

The voting area is restricted to voting members during the day, a media release says. Voters must have been a Conservative Party member in Kelowna-Lake Country on or before March 9, 2019 to be eligible.

After the ballots are counted at approximately 7 p.m. the room will be open to hear the results and comments from the successful candidate.

During the campaign the candidates stirred up a bit of drama after Gray declined to attend a debate with Wasylyk, claiming it would violate Elections Canada rules if it was sponsored by a corporation. Wasylyk maintained that there was nothing illegal about the sponsorship as it was a personal donation from the CEO of JDS Energy & Mining.
