Kelowna garage fire snuffed out quickly, not suspicious

The Kelowna Fire Department.

KELOWNA -  An early morning garage fire in Kelowna was snuffed out quickly, due to quick work from the Kelowna Fire Department.

At just before 8 a.m. Kelowna Fire Dispatch received a 911 call reporting black smoke coming from a detached garage in the 300 block of Mills road.

"On the scene, the first arriving officer confirmed a working fire with flames and smoke from a detached garage in the rear of the residence. The crews performed an offensive interior attack, which contained the fire to the detached structure," said platoon captain Dennis Miller, in a press release.

"The fire crews completed overhaul and checked for any extension. No occupants were home at the time of the fire."

The cause of the fire is not suspicious and the investigation as to the cause is underway.
