Kelowna firefighters extinguish kitchen blaze

KELOWNA - Kelowna firefighters extinguished a serious kitchen fire this morning.

Fire crews were called to a home on Nelson Place at around 11:45 a.m. today, June 28, and firefighters arrived to see smoke coming out the front entrance, according to a media release.

Firefighters entered and extinguishing the extensive kitchen fire, which caused smoke damage throughout the home in addition to heavy fire damage in the kitchen.

Platoon Capt. Tim Light says Emergency Support Services were notified because the resident won't be able to live in the home until repairs are made. The homeowner was insured.
