Karoake mics and speakers recalled due to overheating danger

TORONTO - Certain karaoke microphones and speakers sold through Walmart Canada are being recalled because they could overheat, burn, melt or possibly explode.

The federal agency says about 70,000 of the Rock Solo Karaoke Microphone and Speaker units were sold in Canada between November 2017 and last month.

As of Jan. 29, Walmart Canada had received reports of three incidents, including one where the product exploded, and two cases of overheating and melting.

Health Canada says the retailer has not received any reports of injuries.

The recalled products were manufactured in China and sold in black and rose gold colours and come with a USB cables. The brand name Rock Solo Tzumi is imprinted on the microphone.

Health Canada says consumers should immediately stop using the product and return it with any available packaging to Walmart Canada for a full refund.
