Kamloops woman fights back and prevents carjacking

KAMLOOPS – A Kamloops woman fought back and prevented a carjacker from stealing her vehicle this morning.

RCMP say the woman parked her car on the 900 block of St. Paul Street at about 9:25 a.m. today, July 6, when a man appeared and snatched her keys from her hands.

The suspect got into the car and the woman jumped into the backseat and tried to call 911, according to an RCMP media release. The man grabbed her by her arms and tried to pull her out of the car but he wasn't able to.

Police say he drove a short distance, parked the car and ran away.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his mid-20s, between 5'10" and 6'0" tall, with light coloured hair, a slender build, clean shaven, and wearing a ball cap, green and white shirt with horizontal stripes, long khaki shorts and a shoulder bag.

If you have any information on this robbery or can identify the suspect, please contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
