Here are the highlights of the volunteer opportunities in Kamloops for the week of Aug. 20 to Aug. 27, 2015:

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Golf Tournament Volunteers - The J.D.R.F. are looking for volunteers to help out for the Swing for the Cure Golf Tournament on Sat. Sept. 12 at The Dunes Golf Course. Duties: setup/tear down, registration, and hole spotting. 17+ to volunteer. 250-374-0599

Western Canada Theatre
VW Turtle River Race Ticket Seller - Volunteers are needed to help Western Canada Theatre raise funds by selling raffle tickets for our 14th Annual VW Turtle River Race. Responsibilities include tracking the number of tickets sold during shifts, handling monies, documenting sales, and reporting to the fundraising coordinator. Volunteers should have good communication and numeracy skills. Event day is Sun. Sept. 20th. 19+ to volunteer. 250-372-3216 Ext: 36

Event Volunteers - The AIMFoundation is looking for volunteers to help out with the Walk/Run Career Mentorship event on Sept. 27.  Volunteer positions: registration/info table, race crew, first aid station, and post-race volunteers. CIBC Run for the Cure Organizing Committee - Be part of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure organizing committee and a dynamic team raising funds towards breast cancer research in your local community from Mar. to Nov. 2015 (Event takes place on Sun. Volunteer Kamloops
Volunteer Office Administrative Assistants - You can gain experience in your field in a supportive environment. A minimum requirement of 3-6 hours per week is required and preference will be given to applicants willing to put in a 6 month or longer time commitment. We are looking for a friendly and approachable individual to volunteer at the front counter in our downtown office. Written and verbal English proficiency is required. 250-372-8313

Overlander Residential Care
Fish Tank Volunteer Assistants - Overlander Residential Care is in need of volunteers to assist our expert fish tank keeper with maintaining our fish tank. The volunteers must be physically able to lift large pails of water to fill the empty tank, take directions well, enjoy spending time with seniors, and like fish. 16+ to volunteer. 250-554-5569

Volunteer TNC AIMCanada Executive Assistant - The volunteer is responsible for assisting the TNC Executive Director in coordinating, board meetings and agenda/minutes, business presentations and training sessions. The volunteer is also responsible for coordinating, and orientating volunteers, overseeing fundraising events, accounting and computer/office volunteers. Marketing and Membership Committee - Help the KAC continue to grow their brand recognition and spread the word about their ongoing events and programs by joining their marketing and membership committee. Previous marketing and/or promotional experience is an asset. 18+ to volunteer. 250-372-7323

YMCA/YWCA
YMCA Youth Basketball League Team Coaches - The volunteers will coach kids aged 7-12 in weekly practices, and help to supervise Sunday games at different locations throughout the city. This is a non-competitive league that is meant to foster growth through sport. The coaches should be patient, understanding, and be a positive role model for all the participants. 16+ to volunteer. 250-376-4771

The Gleaning Abundance Project
Harvest Volunteers - The Gleaning Abundance Project are looking for individual and group volunteers to help harvest excess fruit from residential trees. The volunteers will share in the harvest with the other shares going to the homeowners and various non-profits. 13+ to volunteer, and family volunteering friendly. Harvest season is June to November, 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 250-851-6111

Salvation Army - Thrift Store
Thrift Store Volunteers - Volunteers are needed for sorting, pricing, setting up displays, hanging clothes, organizing clothing racks, greeting customers and helping with their purchases. Schedules are set up in a way that works best for the volunteer and the agency. 16+ to volunteer. 250-376-1110

Big Brothers Sisters of Kamloops
Mentors - Now recruiting to link caring and capable adult volunteer mentors with 100 youth, 6-15 years old, on a waiting list. Enjoy the activities you're interested in and share them with a young person. Men in particular are needed for the many boys unmatched. 18+ to volunteer. 250-374-6134
Wildlife Park

Gardening Assistant - The Volunteers will be responsible to keep the park beautiful by helping to maintain our many gardens. The volunteers will be pulling weeds, planting, raking, etc. The volunteers must be physically fit. 14+ to volunteer. 250-573-3242 Ext: 226

Leisure Activity Volunteers - Volunteers are needed to support our residents for the many leisure activities that we have.
