KAMLOOPS - Police were on the lookout for impaired drivers last Friday.

Kamloops RCMP say they issued seven 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions on Friday, July 27.

In partnership with the Central Traffic Services and Integrated Road Safety Unit, RCMP say more than 14 officers were involved in conducting road checks throughout the city with the main focus spotting drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Along with the seven 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions, RCMP say there was one criminal code impaired investigation, four three-day immediate roadside prohibitions, two 24-hour prohibitions for being impaired by drugs and five tickets for prohibited drivers.

Numerous other violation tickets were issued, police say.

RCMP are reminding drivers to plan ahead and make sure there is a sober designated driver when heading out for the night. Police encourage individuals to call a cab, use transit, phone a friend or stay somewhere for the night to avoid driving while impaired.
