A suspect was caught by Kamloops RCMP following an attempted residential break-in early yesterday morning in the Brocklehurst neighbourhood.

Just before 3 a.m., Feb. 24, police responded to a report of a break and enter attempt at a home in the 1100 block of Bentley place, according to an RCMP media release.

The suspect climbed a garden trellis onto a second-story deck but was spotted and chased off by the resident.

Police patrolled the area and were told a suspicious person was running down a long driveway on Parkcrest Avenue.

"Police attended the address and as an officer approached a shed, a person ran out and into the darkness," Kamloops RCMP interim media relations officer Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

A teenage suspect was later arrested after they were tracked down by a police dog, RCMP said.

No charges have been laid yet, but the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect was released with a court date and conditions.
