KAMLOOPS - Police have arrested a man who allegedly rammed a stolen vehicle into a police car.

The vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, was reported stolen on May 24, according to a Kamloops RCMP media release.

Two days later, May 26, police received reports of this Jeep driving erratically in the 1800 block of Westsyde Road at about 1 p.m.

Police found the Jeep parked at a residence and two people, a man and woman, walking to and from the vehicle. When police tried to apprehend the man, he jumped into the Jeep and took off, hitting the woman while doing so. She sustained minor injuries.

The suspect then drove the Jeep into the front end of a parked police vehicle, causing minor injuries to the officer inside. Then he sped away. Police did not pursue a chase.

Eventually the vehicle was located by police and thee suspect was seen fleeing the Jeep on Mount Paul Way. He was arrested without incident.

The suspect is a 27-year-old Kamloops man who was previously known to police.

The woman who had been with the suspect on Westsyde Road, was not arrested.

All investigational information has been forwarded to the British Columbia Prosecution Service who will determine charges.
