Kamloops RCMP arrest man 'freaking out' with an axe

FILE PHOTO

Multiple police officers took an axe-wielding man into custody on Saturday morning after he damaged a vehicle and a home in Kamloops.

Kamloops RCMP responded to a home on the 11 block of 13 Street around 10 a.m., Dec. 10, where a man was "freaking out and smashing things" with an axe, according to an RCMP news release.

It's the same block RCMP closed for hours as they executed a search warrant just two days earlier, but police have not confirmed whether the man was at the same home.

The suspect damaged a house and a vehicle before he was arrested, RCMP said.

He may be facing charges related to threats, weapons and mischief, and was released from custody with a court date and conditions.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this incident can contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-43858.
