Kamloops RCMP advising public to secure travel trailer batteries

KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops are recommending residents secure their travel trailer batteries after a rash of thefts in the area.

RCMP say they have received numerous reports of travel trailer batteries being stolen, according to a news release issued today, Jul. 12.

"In most of the cases, the strap holding the battery on the trailer was cut," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.

Police are asking travel trailer owners to mark their batteries with some form of identification such as a driver's licence number and attach them securely to the trailer.

Parking trailers in a well-lit open area is also another preventative measure, police say.

If you see any suspicious activitiy in your neighbourhood call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
