Kamloops police investigating targeted gangland shooting
A man is recovering from serious injuries after a targeted gang shooting last night and police are looking for more information.
Police were called just before 7 p.m. July 3, to a report of a person being shot in the 170 block of Tranquille Road. There police found a vehicle in the river and a 40-year-old victim suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries from gunshot wounds.
The victim is known to police, spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said in a media release. That release didn't say if he was treated at the scene, taken to hospital or his current condition.
Police did, however, find two other vehicles believed to be associated with the shooting. At 7:20 p.m. they found a burned silver Audi on Jamieson Creek Forest Service Road and Westsyde Road. Then at 3:40 a.m. today, July 4, they found a burned-out black BMW in the 1700 block of Parkcrest Avenue.
“Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and related to the BC Gang Conflict,” Grandy said. “The Kamloops RCMP’s Target Enforcement Unit is leading the investigation, with support from Serious Crime, General Investigations Unit, Forensics Unit, and frontline officers, to identify the suspect(s).”
Kamloops RCMP is asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-camera footage, to contact them at 250-828-3000.
