Threats were made against a school in Kamloops yesterday and a youth suspect was arrested.
The RCMP was made aware of threats directed towards a school on Bebek Road around 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 14, according to a media release.
Westsyde Secondary School appears to be the only school on that street.
The school district, in consultation with police, issued a hold-and-secure. It was lifted shortly after once the police had a suspect in custody, the release says.
“Due to the quick action of the police officers responding, the suspect was located very quickly after police received the report and the hold and secure was lifted prior to the end of the school day,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley said in the release.
The release does not say if the youth suspect was a student at the school. Rather, it says no more info will be released to protect the suspect’s identify, and to protect the integrity of the investigation.
