Warm and sunny spring weather is expected for Kamloops and the Okanagan throughout this week.
April 12, 2021 - 10:23 AM

There is a hint of the summer to come in this week’s forecast for Kamloops and the Okanagan as a ridge of high pressure builds over the southern half of the B.C.

Environment Canada says Thompson-Okanagan residents could see daytimes highs double by next weekend.

In between, expect warming temperatures and lots of sunshine with no precipitation forecast between today, April 12, and Sunday.

Kamloops and the Okanagan should see clearing skies today with highs ranging between 11 C and 13 C.

It’s expected to be a bit breezy today as well with north winds at 30 km/h expected for Kelowna and Vernon, and north winds at 20 km/h gusting to 40 for Penticton.

Kamloops could see northeast winds at 20 km/h through today before winds diminish this evening.

Temperatures are expected to rise by three or four degrees each day to reach a high of 21 C on Thursday for Kamloops and the Okanagan.

We should see highs of 24 C for Kamloops and 22 C for Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton under sunny skies on Saturday, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 23 C for Kamloops and 21 C for the Okanagan on Sunday.

Those are considerably higher than the normal highs for this time of year, which is 16 C for Kamloops, and 15 C for Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton.
