Kamloops mom asks for Christmas cards for her son, Jessie Simpson
Every year during the holiday season Kamloops resident Sue Simpson asks the public to send her son Jessie Christmas cards to bring him cheer.
Jessie Simpson, 26, was left with lifelong mental and physical injuries after being attacked with a baseball bat in 2016. He lives in a care home.
Jessie spends some weekends and special holiday occasions at his mom’s house in Savona and every Christmas the pair find joy in reading the hundreds of cards sent to them from around the world.
“He loves them, they make a big difference every year, he gets excited when they start coming in,” Sue said. “He loves getting ones from other countries and spends time looking at all the pictures. We’re really grateful to have this kind of meaningful support. He always wants to know what everyone’s birthday is if people want to include that.”

The cards are put onto the walls at Jessie’s care home to make things festive for the holiday season.
Christmas cards can be sent to: Jessie Simpson, PO Box 233, Savona, BC, V0J 2K0.
Cans and bottles can be dropped off in Jessie’s name at General Grants Bottle Depot at 611 Fortune Dr. on the North Shore. The money raised will go go toward transportation, food and gas, and small things like flowers to brighten Jessie’s day.
