A unique Japanese burger restaurant in Kamloops is closing at the end of October.

Burger Joy Cafe owners, Chef Kikuo and his wife Charlene, originally from Japan, purchased the eatery in 2014 located inside Sahali Mall at 945 Columbia Street West.

The pair didn’t want to comment on the closure or the reasons behind it, opting to keep a positive focus on the last stretch of running the business.

Burger Joy Café offers a “Japanese burger experience” where the couple brings Japanese inspired flavours to North American burgers, according to their website.

Each burger is made from scratch and prepared when ordered.

“It may take a few minutes longer than a regular fast-food restaurant, but it is well worth the wait,” reads the site.

While Japanese style burgers are the star of the menu, also on offer is homemade Japanese style curry rice and sides like edamame, yakisoba — Japanese-style stir fried noodles with cabbage and green onion — and calamari salad among others.

Burger options range from classic North American kinds to create Japanese inspired with toppings like wasabi, tonkatsu sauce, and stir fried noodles. There are vegetarian burger options as well.

If you haven’t tried the Japanese Burger experience you are running out of time.

Burger Joy Café is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
