Kamloops Fire Rescue puts out a call for auxiliary firefighters

KAMLOOPS – Auxiliary firefighters are needed at three fire stations in and around Kamloops.

Kamloops Fire Rescue sent out a press release today, Feb. 6, looking for auxiliary firefighters at stations serving Westsyde, Rayleigh and Heffley Creek, as well as Dallas and Barnhartvale.

They are looking for candidates who live within eight kilometres of the stations in case of emergencies.

Auxiliary firefighters' duties include responding to fires and emergencies, regular maintenance of equipment and attending training.

Those who are interested can pick up an information package at Station 1 at 1205 Summit Drive. There will also be an information session on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Kamloops Fire Rescue Training Centre.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 23. Training will be provided, however, preference will be given to those who have National Fire Protection Association accreditation.
