Kamloops crash sends road maintenance crew member to hospital

FILE PHOTO

KAMLOOPS - A semi rear-ended an Argo Road Maintenance vehicle that was part of a crew working on the Yellowhead highway in Kamloops on Monday.

RCMP say the Argo crew was working in the southbound lane of Highway 5 at East Shuswap Road at around 11:50 a.m., Monday, March 25. The crew had blocked the lane and posted numerous signs about their work.

A tractor-trailer travelling south rear-ended an Argo crew truck, sending it tumbling over a bank with the driver inside, according to an RCMP media release.

Both drivers were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention.

RCMP warn motorists to be cautious when driving, particularly during the spring months when more road crews are working on the highways.
