KAMLOOPS - Two private retail cannabis stores have received the green light from Kamloops city council.

Council unanimously approved two proposed pot shops today, Nov. 20, one at 40-700 Tranquille Rd. on the North Shore and the other in four units at the strip mall at 450 Lansdowne St. downtown.

Coun. Denis Walsh excused himself from the council meeting on the basis of conflict of interest. Walsh has plans to open a cannabis store in the future.

The City had received three letters from the public in regards to the Tranquille Road location. Two of the letter writers were opposed to the pot shop and one was in favour.

There was only one letter regarding the Lansdowne Street location, and the writer was opposed.
