KAMLOOPS – The Kamloops Blazers have lost associate coach Mark Ferner to the Vernon Vipers.

Ferner has stepped down to join the Vernon BCHL franchise as their new general manager and head coach.

He will be a familiar face to Vipers’ fans having coached Vernon to three straight BCHL Championships and two back-to-back Canadian Junior A Championships in 2009 and 2010.

Ferner left the Snakes for the head coaching job with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, but only lasted a year with the Tips and was let go following the 2012-2013 season.

That’s when he joined the Blazers’ organization as an associate coach.

“We’d like to thank Mark for his time with the Blazers and wish him the best of luck with the Vipers,” Blazers GM Craig Bonner said in a media release.
