A new lakeside shop just opened in Penticton that offers summertime snacks, coffees, locally made products and beach supplies.

Campground Parlor owner Shannon Price is hoping to appeal to tourists and locals alike, and has plans in the works to turn the business located near the beach on Skaha Lake into a “comfortable community hub.”

“We have a nice patio area and can always add more tables as we grow,” she said. “I’d love to bring in musicians and entertainment in the evenings and host wine tastings.”

Price has years of experience in the retail industry, and helped to build and grow a store in the past but this the first business she’s operated.

“It feeds my soul, I love people,” she said. “It’s a little scary being responsible for the bills but I’m super excited and have high hopes it’ll be a fabulous little gathering place.”

Opening day was on Saturday, May 20, and it was slower than she expected as the weather was rainy. Price is expecting business to pick up as local campgrounds fill up and students get out of school.
