Painted Rock Estate Winery in Penticton is a small winery with a huge name.

Proprietors John and Trish Skinner have built a brand with precision and dedication resulting in fine wines and critical acclaim. They are “dedicated to the production of ultra-premium, terroir-driven Okanagan wines” and their winemaking program is sort of an international collaboration. Consultant Alain Sutre of Ertus Consulting in Bordeaux oversees the vineyard and winemaking team with local Gabriel Reis at the helm here offering their process the best of both worlds and infusing old world with new.

Syrah also known as Shiraz, is a dark-skinned grape variety grown throughout the world and used primarily to produce red wine. Here in B.C., we have had some great success in producing amazing Syrah, like this award-winning wine from Painted Rock.

This is one of those special bottles that you can confidently open for a wow. Lovely to sip on with a beautiful mouthfeel and many interesting layers, it is also wonderful with food.

Tasting Notes:

Inviting aromas of rich aromas of cherry, raspberry and a beautiful floral character. The palate with its well-balanced, smooth tannins shows off the fresh cracked pepper note our Syrah has become known for. Elegantly balanced with a rich texture and smooth tannins.
