Investigators say Kelowna recycling plant fire is suspicious

KELOWNA – RCMP considered a fire overnight at a Kelowna recycling plant suspicious.

Just after midnight this morning, June 3, Kelowna RCMP and the Kelowna Fire Department were called to a “large fire” at the Cascades recycling plant in the 100 block of Cambro Road.

Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says no structures were affected and the fire was contained to two pallets loaded with recycling material.

“The blaze is being considered suspicious and fire investigators with both the RCMP and the Kelowna Fire Department are expected to examine the scene today,” he says in a media release.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
