FILE PHOTO

KAMLOOPS – This afternoon an inmate managed to slip out of police custody for about an hour while at hospital in Kamloops.

A police dog was dispatched and she was tracked down and brought back into custody without incident today, May 8.

RCMP say in a release that the prisoner, Tasha Nicole Viehoefer, 25, was at the hospital undergoing medical assessment. The officer with her was dealing with an unrelated incident and that’s when Viehoefer disappeared.

Viehoefer, 25, is charged with identity theft and obstructing a peace officer.

According to RCMP, she will be facing more charges related to this incident.
