Infant in vehicle involved in fatal crash near Sun Peaks

A single-vehicle crash near Sun Peaks last night claimed the life of the driver, but the infant in the vehicle survived with minor injuries.

Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a crash at approximately 11:30 p.m. yesterday, Sept. 15, on Heffley-Louis Creek Road where the female driver died at the scene, Cpl. Mike Halskov told iNFOnews.ca in an email.

An infant was found in the vehicle and was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Sarah Morris with B.C. Emergency Health Services.

The child is now in the care of family.

Halskov said police have not yet ruled out impairment and lack of seatbelt use as contributing factors in the collision.
