Interior highways may be wet and slippery today, Jan. 4, but there don't seem to be any major issues.

DriveB.C. is reporting slippery sections on Highway 1 from Jackass Mountain Summit to Spences Bridge; Highway 5 has slippery sections from the Great Bear Snowshed to the Coquihalla Summit; Highway 6 EW has compact snow between Cherryville and Needles; Highway 97 has slippery sections from Okanagan Falls to Summerland; and Highway 97C has slippery sections between the Pennask Summit and West Kelowna.

Charles Andrews, who commutes to Armstrong from Sicamous via Highway 97A, reported the road was mostly bare and dry the whole way this morning.

Looking at weather, Kamloops is in for a high of -2 Celsius and low of -6 C. Anyone in Vernon or Kelowna can expect a high of 0 and low of -6 C. And Penticton will cool from 1 C to -2 C over the course of the day.

At the ski hills, Big White Mountain Resort is reporting 1 centimetre of new snow and 35 cm over the past week. There has been 17 cm at Sun Peaks Ski Resort over the past week. SilverStar Mountain Resort’s last significant snowfall was 5 cm on Dec. 28. And Apex Mountain Resort is reporting 13 cm over the past week.
