Some Interior highways are snowy and slushy this morning.

It’s snowing on Highway 1 between Spences Bridge and Jackass Mountain, and the road has compact snow and slippery sections, according to DriveB.C. Highway 5 is slushy with slippery sections from Great Bear Snowshed to the Coquihalla Summit; Highway 3 has slushy sections from Hedley to Keremeos; Highway 3A has slushy sections from Keremeos to Kaleden; it’s snowing on Highway 8 from Spences Bridge to Merritt where there is compact snow on the roads; Highway 97B has compact snow from the start of the Highway to Salmon Arm; Highway 97 has slippery sections from Okanagan Falls to Summerland; and Highway 97C has slippery sections between West Kelowna and Merritt.

Charles Andrews drove from Armstrong to Sicamous via Highway 97A this morning, as he does five days a week. He reports the road was bare and dry throughout.

“It is kind of boring, I know, but many like boring,” said Andrews.

Looking at weather, Kamloops, Vernon and Kelowna are in for a high of 0 and low of -2 Celsius with a low chance of flurries. In Penticton, where the temperature is currently at its low of 1 C, and will reach a high of 5 C around 5 p.m., flurries are expected to continue until 10 a.m.

At the ski hills, Big White Mountain Resort is reporting 27 centimetres over the past week and an alpine snow base of 139 cm. There has been 16 cm at Sun Peaks Ski Resort over the past week where there is an alpine base of 129 cm; the ’s last significant snowfall at SilverStar Mountain Resort, where the alpine snow base is 249 cm, was 5 cm on Dec. 28; and Apex Mountain Resort is reporting 2 cm of new snow, 7 cm over the past week, and an alpine snow base of 158 cm.
