This morning, Jan. 30, should be the coldest of the current cold snap with temperatures in Kamloops and the Okanagan dipping as low as -15 Celsius.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing later this week throughout the region.

The only traffic caution by DriveBC on regional highways is on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt where there are slippery sections from 6 km south of the Great Bear Snowshed to 12 km north of the Coquihalla summit

The B.C. Travellers Forecast calls for increasing cloudiness on the Coquihalla Highway starting around noon with a 40% chance of flurries tonight from Hope to Merritt and 60% from Merritt to Kamloops.

The Okanagan Connecter should have a mix of sun and cloud with a 30% chance of snow late this afternoon and 60% tonight.

Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton should also have a mix of sun and cloud this morning with a 40% chance of flurries tonight.

Driving conditions won’t be as good on Highway 1 from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass where snow is expected to start this afternoon, with 2 cm falling. Another 10 cm are expected tonight at 5-10 cm tomorrow.

Kamloops recorded a temperature -13 C at 6 a.m. this morning, according to Environment Canada. There’s a 30% chance of snow late this afternoon with a high temperature of -6 C. It’s not expected to get much colder overnight with a low of -7 C.

Vernon was -15 C. There’s a 60% chance of snow late this afternoon with a high of -7 C.

Kelowna was -14 C at 6 a.m. and expected to warm to -6 C this afternoon with a 30% chance of snow.

Penticton was -11 C and should see a high of -3 C today with winds of 30 km/h this afternoon and increasing cloudiness.

Sun Peaks Ski Resort had no new snow in the last 48 hours leaving the hill with an alpine base of 178 cm. It’s -11 C.

Silver Star Mountain Resort is -19 C, with new snow in the last 48 hours and an alpine base of 193 cm.

Big White Ski Resort had no new snow in the last 24 hours, is -14 C and has an alpine base of 205 cm.

Apex Mountain Resort had no new snow in the last 48 hours, has an alpine base of 172 cm and is -17 C.
