The popularity of the Yellowstone TV series has sparked a growing interest not only in ranching but in luxury ranches.
A 73,000-acre property near Beaverdell, which is an hour’s drive from Kelowna, is being dubbed “Yellowstone North of 49” and will go to auction on Aug. 14.
The opening bid is $5.9 million.
The ranch comes with a a 5,156 square foot furnished ranch house with four bedrooms and five bathrooms, a 2,156-square foot log garage with a secondary suite above and a 2,535-square foot ranch manager’s home.
There are 670 deeded acres and a 73,000 acre grazing licence, an indoor riding arena, numerous water wells and an irrigation system.
“This ranch was beautifully designed for entertaining family and friends and every element will support building a lifetime’s worth of memories,” the promotional material says. “From custom designed Whittaker furniture to fine art, the incredible chef’s kitchen featuring Wolf and Miele appliances and the slate outdoor entertainment area that leads to a secluded hot tub, every space was designed to maximize the views of the valley and embrace the natural surroundings.”
The ranch is a 10 minute drive east of Beaverdell on the Beaver Creek Road. It dates back to 1906 and the house was built about 12 years ago, according to the publicist for the property.
There is no standard real estate listing but information was sent to media and more information is available through the auction firm here.
The auction is being run by Alberta-based CLHbid.com. The online bidding starts at 8 a.m. PDT on Aug. 14.

“When the bidding begins, usually for an hour or two, you see the process on your screen in the privacy of your home or office,” the listing says. “You don’t see who else has signed on with you, but you do see the bid amounts being placed in real time.
“At the end of the bidding period, the highest offer goes to the seller for acceptance. The successful buyer's name is never disclosed to anyone except the seller during closing.”
There are additional options to buy the equipment or the 220 head of cattle or the hay and silage. Those are being offered at set prices totalling close to $2 million.
The Yellowstone TV series started airing in 2018 on the Paramount Network and has Kevin Costner in the lead role of John Dutton, owner of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, billed as the largest ranch in Montana.
