A Kamloops woman was allegedly impaired when she was pulled over in a stolen vehicle yesterday morning.

The vehicle was reported stolen around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 8, according to the Kamloops RCMP. The victim was at a store on 7 Avenue and left their vehicle running outside. They came outside and watched as it was being driven away.

“Officers conducted patrols and located the vehicle travelling westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “Further investigation revealed the suspect was also driving while prohibited and impaired.”

The woman was arrested and issued a 90-day driving ban.

She was released with conditions and a court date.

RCMP anticipate their recommendations will lead to charges relating to driving while prohibited and possession of stolen property.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-4547.
